My style is eclectic and influenced by modern psychoanalytic and attachment theories, Buddhist psychology, internal family systems, and emotion focused therapy for couples and families, among others.

Therapy is a space to explore emotions, relationships, and the deeper parts of yourself. The work often involves making sense of your inner world and finding new ways to feel more connected, both to yourself and to others.

In practice, this might take the form of exploring the parts of you that are still using old survival strategies, or uncovering unmet needs for connection that might impact your relationships today. The goal is not to fix or change who you are, but to bring more understanding, compassion, and choice to the way you relate to yourself and others.

Our relationship will provide a foundation for growth outside of our sessions, creating an experiential roadmap for safe, authentic connection.

As you are ready, we can explore new narratives & develop practices that alleviate anxiety and depression, creating more space for acceptance, ease and joy.  While I am fiercely compassionate for humans and all of our messy, conflicting parts, I also do not shy away from bringing attention to blind spots and stuck areas that require critical attention and care.

I enjoy finding humor with my clients, and my style often moves between in-depth explorations of the psyche to discussing practical strategies for nervous system regulation and management of distressing symptoms.

Education and Training

I have a Master's degree in Social Work from Columbia University in New York as well as a Master's in Counseling Psychology from San Francisco State University. I have engaged in extensive post-graduate training and consultation in modern psychoanalytic theory, mindfulness, and trauma treatment. I participate in ongoing training in the clinical application of mindfulness practices with UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center and in 2015 completed the teacher training in Mindful Self-Compassion with Kristin Neff and Chris Germer.

In addition to my formal education and training, I am an avid reader and lifelong learner and am committed to deepening and sharpening my skills and therapeutic presence on an ongoing basis. I am influenced by and follow the work of Peter Levine and Bessel Van der Kolk on polyvagal theory and healing from trauma, Richard Schwartz’ Internal Family Systems Model, Sue Johnson’s emotionally focused therapy for couples and families, and  Esther Perel and Emily Nagoski work’s on relationships and sex. I have been licensed since 2012 and in private practice since 2020.
